This gallery section of the Bradshaw Foundation India Rock Art Archive consists of a series of photographs compiled by Dr. Meenakshi Dubey Pathak, whose passion for Indian rock paintings has taken her to numerous rock art sites in Central India, including Jhiri, Kathotiya, Doulatpur, Panganwa, Hathitol, Devkuthar, Panna, Rewa and Gaddi. During the course of her research and fieldwork, particularly in the Pachmarhi Hills, Dr. Meenakshi Dubey Pathak has found that the prehistoric rock paintings bear a strong resemblance to the contemporary paintings created by the indigenous tribal groups on the adobe walls of their thatched huts. By continuing the themes and motifs of their prehistoric ancestors' rock art, the present-day artists are recognising the importance of this ancient legacy, and hence the need for preservation.
